What Dr. Mobasser is referring to is a close up shot of Rosado during his Wednesday Night performance of “Ribbon in the Sky” by Stevie Wonder, in which viewers could clearly see Rosado’s unattractive teeth and, more noticeably a yellow substance on his tongue. “This poor kid was singing his heart out, but honestly I think he could have made it to the next round, if he had just open his mouth before the show and have taken care of his discolored tongue, prior to his opening ,” said Dr. Mobasser. Dr. Mobasser, who manages the dental and cosmetic needs of a variety of Hollywood celebrities, says Rosado’s discolored tongue is typical of someone who does not brush their tongue on a regular basis. “The yellowish tint to his tongue can be bacteria accumulation that’s has been growing on his tongue, probably for a while, and unfortunately most public are not aware of how to take care of tongue hygiene. This probably means he might have a bad case of halitosis as well.”

Representatives from both American Idol and the Rosado family could not be reached for comment.

Mobasser says Rosado’s poor hygiene and the dental problems he sees with other American Idol contestants represent a trend among young Americans in their late teens and early 20’s. Mobasser sees the same trend among his patients as a dentist in Beverly Hills. “Look at the rest of the contestants with crooked teeth and a bad smile and you know they’re not going to win.” says Mobasser. “Half of the remaining contestants have bad teeth, watch a close up of them while they’re singing and if you see a lot of ugly dark fillings, crooked teeth, or an ugly film on their tongue, make sure you do not vote for them because the American idol winner should not have bad teeth and bad breath.”
