Summary of Infection Prevention Practices in Dental Settings: Basic Expectations for Safe Care

 

This document summarizes current infection prevention recommendations and includes a checklist that can be used to evaluate compliance. The information presented here is based primarily upon the previously published 2003 guideline (see below) and represents infection prevention expectations for safe care in dental settings.

The Summary includes additional topics and information relevant to dental infection prevention and control published by CDC since 2003 including:

미국 질병통제예방센터(The Centes for Disease Control and Prevention)는 구강보건 전문가들이 치과에서 발생할 수 있는 감염을 예방하는데 도움을 주기 위해 새로운 지침을 발표했다.

 

새로운 지침은 2003년 CDC에서 발표했던 ‘치과감염관리 지침서’와 2003년 이후 CDC에서 발간된 다른 지침들의 복합본으로, ‘치과에서 감염 예방을 위한 수행 요약문 : 안전을 위한 기본 지침’이 다뤄졌다.

 

CDC에 의하면, 지침서는 구강보건 전문가들이 감염방지 지침을 따르는데 도움이 되는 내용을 포함하고 있다. 그 내용은 다음과 같다.

 

● 치과에서 감염방지를 위한 기초적인 원칙 요약

● 치과 스텝들의 감염예방을 위한 지침들을 준수하는 정도를 평가하기 위한 체크리스트

● 치과에서 소독, 안전하게 주사 놓기, 손 위생 등 각 분야에 대한 주요 참고문헌

 

이 지침서에서는 모든 치과에서 한 명의 감염관리 코디네이터를 배치하기를 권장하고 있다.

 

코디네이터는 근거 중심의 지침에 근거해 각 병원 실정에 맞는 감염 방지 원칙을 개발해야 한다. 또한 다른 스텝들을 도와 치과 내에 모든 기구와 장비, 물품에 대한 감염예방 여부를 지속적으로 확인해야 한다.

 

2003년에 발표된 ‘치과에서 감염관리 지침서’에는 (1) 치과 스텝을 보호하기 위한 감염관리 프로그램 (2) 혈행성 병원균의 전파 예방 (3) 손 위생 (4) 개인 보호 기구 (5) 접촉성 피부염 및 라텍스 민감성 (6) 환자 관리 물품의 소독 및 멸균 (7) 환경 감염관리 (8) 치과 유니트 체어의 수관 관리 등이 포함돼 있다. 또한 20페이지의 체크리스트와 ‘치과에서 감염관리 활동의 요약: 안전한 관리를 위한 기본 지침’이 있다.
